GV II

Public House. Late C16 - early C17, west wing added, probably in C18. Rubble
stone walls - wing part plastered, thatched roof with coped gable at right
end. Brick end stacks, and one, -C20- at front of wing. 2 storeys. In main
range, ledged door in moulded frame, ground floor has two 4-light and one
3-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. First floor has 4 casements
with glazing bars. Left wing, projecting at front, has 2 C20 casements on
ground floor. 2 added wings at rear, one single-storey, with pantile roof;
one 2-storeyed, with slate roof. Internally, right ground floor room has
large open fireplace with timber lintel. Some exposed chamfered ceiling
beams, and evidence of former cross-passage. (RCHM Monument 15. Dorset.
