north of Emberside
and Elm Houses
GV II
Garden wall, probably early C19. Brick with pairs of headers and stretchers
every 4th course; rear face squared rubble; cut dressings. Wall 4 metres high
with flat stone coping. Back lane goes through round arch with alternating-
block jambs and brick voussoirs. West end of wall joins No. 8 Bridge Street
(q.v.).
Historical note: this was the north wall of the former garden of Warkworth
House (now Warkworth House Hotel, q.v.).
Attached late C20 Emberside House near west end, and east part of wall
attached to and beyond Elm House, are not of special interest.
