CALLALY CALLALY NU Ol SE and NU OO NE 10/38 and 17/38 Garden walls north and north-east of Callaly Castle

GV II

Garden walls. 1770 and 1775, extended late C19. Dressed stone,brick-lined in older sections. Later section random rubble with ashlar piers.

Older wall: L-plan. Attached at south end to wall and bridge which is attached to north west corner of castle (q.v.). c.6 ft. high for first 40 yards with doorway dated 1775. Then ramped up to higher section which remains high as wall returns to right. The return has a doorway with Gibbs surround and triple keystone dated RMC 1770. Flat coping.

Later walls surround vegetable garden to north of this: also L-plan. It has rusticated gate piers with domed caps,and tall rusticated corniced piers with ball finials at north-east and north-west corners.
