19/141 Headstone with
headless figure
1 metre south of
Church of St. Mungo

Headstone. Probably mid C18. Sandstone. 1.5 metres tall. Segmental top has
projecting rounded shoulders with crude incised floral motifs (probably
representing thistles). Sunk panel with shaped head. Panel contains bold
relief of headless (-length figure with right hand resting upon an hourglass
and left hand clutching a bone. Reverse is inscribed but cannot be read as
the headstone is re-set close to the church wall.
