SP 61 SE DORTON

House. Probably C17, altered late C18 and C20. Roughly coursed rubble stone,
C17 dressed stone quoins, C18 dentil brick eaves. 2-span hipped roof
with C20 tiles, rebuilt brick chimney to front left corner. Double pile,
2 storeys, 2 bays. C17 chamfered stone mullion windows: 3-light in
right bay, 2-light to centre. Right side has similar 3-light windows
to left bay and first floor right, and C20 matching 4-light window
to ground floor right. Entry in lean-to to rear. Lower late C18-early
C19 wing set back to left is also of stone with hipped tile roof and
square chimney shaft of thin brick. This wing is of one storey
and an attic, with one bay of leaded casements, the upper in eaves-line
dormer, and a flush-panelled door to right.
