2/64 Goose house at SW745 325
-

GV II

Goose house, possible ash-house or possibly a dog's kennel or even a larder.
Probably C18 or early C19. Granite rubble and some partly dressed granite.
Rounded rectangular plan chamber wider on the right, about 1 metre deep, built into a
stone and earth hedge. Roofed with granite lintels which carry the upper part of the
hedge. Small square doorway faces east and has holes for 2 pintail hinges in the
right-hand jambstone and a single hole, for fastening a door, in the left-hand
jambstone. The door is missing.
One of 2 similar structures in front of a house which it is said was used as a
buttery. These chambers may have been for butter storage.
