Mile post. Early C19.cast iron mile post, triangular in section with a dished top,
and two faces with inscriptions. North east face reads 'HATHERSAGE 2 MILES,
CASTLETON 8 MILES, CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH 12 MILES'. South west face reads 'SHEFFIELD
8 MILES'. The mile post is associated with the route of the Sheffield to
Manchester Turnpike, which was begun in mid c18.
