Gates, piers and walls. Gates c1700 brought from Venice during the C19;
with late C18 walls and with later additions and alterations. Pinkish-red
brick with tile and ashlar copings and wrought-iron gates. Gateway has end
piers, square on plan, with ashlar copings and ball finials then wall,
curved on plan, with tile copings ramp upwards to inner piers, square on
plan, with ashlar cappings. Ornamental double gates have scroll and ribbon
motif to lower part, then bars with scrolls to sides and ornamental
overthrow now incorporated into gate. From westernmost pier wall continues
south-east for approximately 75 metres, approximately 1.75 metres high
with tile copings, to abut ranges to rear of Triton Inn (qv).
