THORNGUMBALD THORN MARSH ROAD TA 22 SW (east side, off) 7/27 Thorney Crofts Farmhouse - and adjoining stable
- II Farmhouse and stable adjoining to left. Mid C18 with C19 alterations. Red brick with pantile roofs. Main range has double-depth plan, with 2-room south front, entrance to rear, single-room kitchen addition to right and similar stable addition to left. 2 storeys, 2 bays, with single storey and attic, 2-bay wings. Cement plinth. C20 four-pane casements in original openings (that to ground floor left blocked below) beneath stucco flat arches. Tumbled-in brick to raised gables. C19 rebuilt end stacks. Wing to right has C20 glazed porch over door in original opening, and window to right similar to main range, tumbled-in brick to raised gable, end stack. C19 outside lavatory adjoining to right, with round- headed door, coped screen wall ramped down to right, and 3-hole earth closet. Wing to left has blocked door and window beneath segmental arches, similar gable and end stack. Left return has brick staircase with stone treads to attic board door beneath segmental arch. Rear: main range has entrance to right with pilastered doorcase and half-glazed door in panelled reveal, single window to left, round-headed stair window and 2 first floor windows with similar C20 glazing to south front. Stable to right has board door and opening to right with ventilation hatch beneath 3 panes. Interior. Dogleg staircase, moulded cornices.
