Early C18 stone house with rendered front. Steeply pitched double span roof
with coped gable ends. Two storeys and attic. Five bays. Sashes with glazing
bars in moulded stone architraves with keyblocks, right hand ground floor French
doors. Stone band at floor level and rusticated stone quoins. Central doorway
with moulded stone architrave, pulvinated frieze and cornice. Three hipped
dormers with 3-light casements. Ashlar end stacks with cornices.
Interior: contemporary staircase with turned balusters, moulded rail and square
panelled newels, moulded risers and moulded open string, and with fielded panel
dado. The south-east room has ovolo moulded panelling.
For about 200 years the house of the Bishops of Peterborough, who were also
rectors of Castor.
