War memorial. "Erected by the people of Saddleworth 1923".
Architect - C.B. Howcroft, builder C.Winterbottom. Ashlar.
Large obelisk on stylobate with rolls of honour attached to
each side. Carved sword, reeded band and a wreath on each
face of the obelisk. One inscription reads "True love by
life - true love by death is tried. Live thou for England -
we for England died".
