3/149 Ivy Cottage and Walters Cottage

2 adjoining cottages. Probably C17 extended in C19. Rendered stone rubble and
cob. Slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble stack at left end with tapered cap
drip and conical slate roof to corbelled out bread oven. Stone rubble stack at
right end with tapered cap.
Main range built gable end to road. Walters Cottage at left end has 1½ room plan,
with direct entry to larger room which has winder staircase to rear right hand
corner. 2 room plan to Ivy Cottage with C19 gable-ended wing projecting at right
angles to the main range, forming overall T-shape on plan.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical principally C19 fenestration. Ivy Cottage (to roadside)
has 2 light casement 6 panes per light on each floor to left of stack at right
gable end. Two 2-light casements 8 panes per light above similar casement to left
of plank door to C19 wing. 2-light casement 8 panes per light or return wall of
main range to right of doorway.
Interior of Walters Cottage only inspected. No access to roofspace but feet of
heavy principals suggest original roof structure probably intact.
