7/116 Royal Oak Hotel

GV II

Public house, 1781. Watershot sandstone with tiled roof. Main part of 2
storeys with attic and 2 bays. Windows sashed with cyma-moulded stone
surrounds. The door, between bays, has a similar surround. Above is an
oval plaque inscribed: 'William & Emma Gelderd 1781'. Gable chimneys.
Left-hand gable has coping with kneeler. To the right is a lower part, of
the same build and 2 storeys. The ground floor was altered c.1980 and has
2 modern mullioned windows. Between them is a wide entrance with stone
lintel. On the 1st floor are 2 sashed windows with glazing bars and
cyma-moulded surrounds.
