North Town Farmhouse

GV II

Barn and attached shippon with loft over. Circa 1850. Rubblestone with asbestos
slate roof with gable ends. Virtually L-shaped on plan with shippon and loft
adjoining at right angles to front lower end of barn. Large flat-arched cart
entrance with rough stone voussoirs to barn with plank door. Shippon has external
stone steps at front gable end to loft plank door with timber lintel. 3 segmental
arched openings to south-side with plank door to centre, left side infilled to leave
small square opening and base of right side infilled leaving opening for slatted
window. Plank door with flat brick arch to lower front end of barn. Ventilation
slits at lower gable end C19 roof trusses with side-pegged collars intact.
