Cottage, c1630. Mainly timber-framed, rendered, but with clunch
to much of the front and rear walls. Thatched roof of reed with
an original ridge stack with grouped shafts set diagonally.
Three bay and lobby-entry plan. One storey and attic. Two
later gabled dormers. Doorway opposite the stack flanked by
later fenestration. The arches for C18 window openings, now
blocked, are visible in the front wall. Inside the pegs for
studs are visible in the front and rear walls. The chimney bay
is also framed but has an original brick and clunch stack. One
ceiling has joists of substantial scantling laid flat and
another ceiling has joists laid on edge and more typical of
C17. Abutting inglenook hearths.
