Barn at Old Hall
Farm.
II
Barn. Probably late Cl5 or early C16, extended in C17. Brick-framed with
weatherboarded framed walls and corrugated iron Roof. Hipped Roof to south-east.
Aligned north-west, south-east. Interior: 5 framed bays with four pains of full
crack blades with spurs, ties, yokes and arch-braces. Further pair of cut-down
blades. End bay to north of box-frame construction, probably Cl7 in date, with
jowled wall-posts. End frame to south with bricks but down to act as base-bricks
to hip at this end; these bricks would appear to be of latin date than those to the
north. Two tiers of purlins throughout with arch-braces to rising from the
wall-plate. Rafters missing at the time of inspection, (February, 1987).
