Small house. C17 or earlier. Rendered cob and stone rubble ; asbestos slate roof ;
axial stack with rendered shaft.
Plan: 2 room and through passage plan, hall to the left with stack backing on to
passage, unheated lower end room divided into 2. The house may have extended further
at the left end.
Exterior: Modernized. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3 bay front with late C20 plastic
windows and door.
Interior: Rich carpentry details to the left-hand room with a chamfered stopped
crossbeam and chamfered, jewel-stopped joists. Open fireplace with a chamfered
lintel and brick-lined bread oven. The lower end room has a rough chamfered axial
beam.
Roof: No access to apex at time of survey (1987) but the roof is of side-pegged
jointed cruck construction and could be late medieval. One of a closely-spaced row
of C17 and earlier houses in Combeinteignhead, end on to the street.
