Church of St Blaise

A Grade I Listed Building in Haccombe with Combe, Devon

  • St Blaise: view from the west; bellcote instead of tower

  • St Blaise: nave arcade leading to aisle; cut through around time of becoming collegiate church in 1335; short, sturdy piers

  • St Blaise: c14 tiles; two at upper centre are arms of Edmund, Earl of Cornwall & Archdeacon respectively

  • St Blaise: probably the founder, Sir Stephen de Haccombe, 1243, in chain mail & surcoat

  • St Blaise: Nicholas Carew, 1469; sallet & late c15 armour

  • St Blaise: nave looking towards triple lancet east window; no chancel arch; neo-Gothic c19 traceried screen of Beerstone
