Detached house. Early C19 with later additions. Cob, stone plinth, plastered
under gabled-end slate roof. Formerly a central staircase plan, although the rear
part of the house (facing West End Road, and including the kitchen) could contain
an earlier core. 2 end stacks, 1 axial stack, all with brick shafts. 2 storeys.
Front: originally a symmetrical 3-window range under deeply overhanging eaves with
gutter box on little brackets;Central portico with Tuscan columns and pilasters;
glazed and panelled door under semi-circular fanlight; panelled reveals. Upper
windows, hornless sashes, 8 panes per sash; similar to ground floor, but with 8
panes to upper sash, 12 to lower. To this front have been added 2 additional bays
to the right; hornless sash windows above, 2 panes per sash with margin panes; C20
aluminium framed windows to ground floor. Rear (to road) with asymmetrical C19
fenestration.
Interior: Contemporary and intact, with panelled doors, and staircase with stick
balusters and wreathed rail.
