1/27 Jarvis Hall
House. Circa 1400 with later alterations and additions including early C19 work. Timber
framed and plastered, moulded eaves cornice. Hipped red plain tiled roof. Red brick chimney
stack to right ridge and left hip, gault stack to rear left, and gable end stack to brewhouse.
Now square plan with 3 interlocking hipped roofs of 2 parallel ranges with earlier range at
right angles. Single storey brewhouse to rear right. 2 storeys. 3 window range of
tripartite vertically sliding sashes with horns and glazing bars, expecting central first floor
single light vertically sliding sash with painted glass. Central 4 panelled door with glass
toplight, fanlight over. Flat canopy supported by brick piers. The house is of 4 separate
builds, at the north eastern corner (rear right) is a truncated solar crosswing of circa 1400
with jowled storey posts and 2 armed cross quadrate crown post roof, the range to the front
(south) of this contains a large chimney stack and a probably C17 rebuilding of the former
open hall. The roof of this is stack and a probably C17 rebuilding of the former open hall.
The roof of this is substantially of the circa 1400 phase and has the sooted hall rafters and
collars reused over the 2 storey block. The Southern range is of early C19 with late C19
extension to rear. 6 panelled doors with moulded surrounds to ground floor.
