Description

MINSTERWORTH CHURCH LANE SO 71 NE (south side) 5/100 Gazebo and Garden Walls, Minsterworth Court GV II Gazebo, garden walls and ha ha. Late C18. Flemish bond brickwork, stone plinth to gazebo; flat, random rubble to ha ha wall. Slate roof. Square gazebo, garden walls running from house and gazebo about 25m towards river, framing east and west sides of tapering garden, linked by ha ha at river end. Gazebo about 4m east of garden face of house: double French doors, fanlight, segmental rubbed brick arch, stone springers and keystone; plain parapet, pyramid roof behind. Garden wall on right, at storey height, plain stone coping, sweeps down at end to below half height. On other side of house similar wall from rear of service wing, mirroring that on right, except that it has a doorway cut through part way along. At river end walls linked by ha ha, stone wall on house side, with steps down in centre set back behind face of wall. Walls frame garden, tapered for perspective effect. Forms group with Court (q.v.).
