C17. Refronted late C18. 2 storeys and attic. Red brick walls, modillion
cornice and string between floors, hipped old tile roof. 7 windows, sashes
with glazing bars. Central doorway. 5 dormers in attic. Doorcase with
Tuscan columns supporting elaborately moulded open pediment with small
dentils. Radiating and wreathed fanlight. Panelled reveals and panelled
soffit to pediment. Some C17 panelling and ceilings in interior. This
house was a famous private School in C18. Two of its pupils were George
Canning and Lord Lyons.
