Pavilion and wall with balustrade in garden on west side of house

Pavilion and wall with balustrade. Early-mid C18. Ashlar, and lead
roof to pavilion. Pavilion: single storey, 3 bays. Open on garden
side, side and rear walls solid. Tuscan distyle in antis supports
round-arched arcade with keystone band. Dentilled cornice and flat roof
with parapet. Rear wall has blind arcade in same style. Wall with
balustrade: encloses south and west sides of sunken garden. Wall of
coursed ashlar approximately 80 centimetres high supporting balustrade
with ashlar coping. Solid piers at intervals and raised corner
platforms reached by curved steps spring forward of the wall line.
There was originally a similar balustrade to the right of the house,
presenting a balanced elevation. The estate formerly known as Newby
Park.
