Rectangular plan garden wall and pair of gates. C17 and C18. E
side is early C17, reduced in height in C19, when the centre gate
and two sets of statary were added. The statue groups, in
rectangular recesses at each end of the wall, are by Bubb in
artificial stone, 1823, and came from the Royal Exchange. S side
has C18 wrought iron double gates with scrolled side panels and
overthrow. Piers with stone ball finials. N gates were moved to
the Cecil burial ground in St Ethelreda's churchyard in the Cl
(qv). Tall C18 wall continues from S to W sides and returns on
N.
