Barn and stable adjoining on W, now a house. C17 altered in 1980s to a
house. Timber framed on red brick sills, with frame exposed with red
brick infill panels, rear roughcast. Stable red brick at rear. Steep
old red tile roofs. A tall 3-bays barn backing onto road and facing S
into courtyard, with projecting gabled porch in middle, and lower
single-storey former stable extending to W up to gatehouse. Jowled
posts, full-height studs, long straight tension braces, clasped-purlin
roof with 2 purlins to each slope carried on 2 collars at the gables.
Casement windows, 2 gabled dormers and chimney in rear roofslope. Part
of courtyard of outbuildings of Ickleford Manor burned down in 1911.
