Gate House Cottage and Old Hall Cottage

House, now divided into 2. C17 with later additions and alterations,
principally of 1923. Timber framed with painted brick infill, plain
tile roof and red brick stacks behind ridge to former gable ends.
Original house of 3 framed bays, extended 1923 by addition of prominent
Dutch-gabled range to left of what is now Old Hall Cottage and by a
brick addition to right of the present Gate House Cottage with a gabled
range at right-angles to rear. One storey and attic to original part;
framing: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate, long straight
tension braces; irregular fenestration, ground floor of Gate House
Cottage has 2 late C19 casements in panels of framing to right of
boarded door with flat hood; Old Hall Cottage has a small fixed-light
window to right of boarded door and a late C20 casement to left where
wall has been re-built further out; three C20 gabled eaves dormers,
2 to Old Hall Cottage and one to Gate House Cottage. Interior: not
inspected but timber frame said to be substantially intact to C17
part. 1923 additions are not of special architectural interest.
