GV II

Former cloth finishing mill, now theatre. Early C19. Random rubble, ashlar quoins, stone slate roof, hipped to left,
coped verge to right. Rectangular on plan, regular frontage. 2 storeys, 9 bays, segmental-headed 2-light stone mullion
windows, each light with a casement with glazing bars. 2 door openings to ground floor in chamfered segmental headed
stone surrounds with emphasised key-stones, plank doors. Further C20 door opening to first floor of left return reached
by a flight of C20 concrete steps. Mill leat flows under the mill in 2 places emerging to North side under a causeway,
one narrow and one broad segmental archway. Section of rubble wall to right return, 2 semi-circular headed archways,
dressed stone voussoirs. Two reused late C19 mill wheels inside the mill. An extremely well preserved example of a
local mill. Probably a dye works. (O Bryan Morland, An Introduction To The Infrastructure Of The Industrial Revolution
In Somerset, 1982).
