Laithe house. Cl6, subsequently outshot added. Rendered, raking buttresses to right of entrance and left of barn door,
thatched roof, hipped left, enlarged brick stacks left gable end and centre, latter set on remains of earlier stone
stack, Plan: set gable end on to road, 2 cell and cross passage with barn to left, outshot at rear. One and a half
storeys, all C19 and C20 casements, two 2-light eyebrow dormers left, 3-light casements flanking entrance, single
storey double Roman tiled, lean-to roof to garden shop centre, wooden lintol to barn entrance left; colourwashed random
rubble extension at rear. Interior: partially sighted. Peaked headed door frame in cross passage partition right, room
left of similar plastered partition with chamfered beams and scroll stops, chamfered bead to large inglenook fireplace,
partition opposite rear wall with straight stair probably on site of earlier winder stair. Barn and roof not sighted,
precise evolution of house not clear, possibly, open hall.
