Dovecote, now field shelter. Probably late C17. Red brick with plain
tile roof. One storey and loft. Dentil brick eaves cornice; crow-
stepped gable ends, that to south with toothed brick band near apex.
Blocked circular opening in gable end to south and segmental-headed
doorway beneath; loft opening to east. Interior not inspected. The
dovecote stands to the north-west of the moated site of Lower Newton
Farmhhouse (now demolished). The present Lower Newton Farmhouse is a
late C20 building and not included in this list. V.C.H. Vol. VIII,
p. 304; H.E. Forrest F.L.S., Some old Shropshire houses and their owners
(1924), pp. 173-4.
