Block of estate cottages and 3 rear outhouses. 1913 by E.L. Lutyens for H.G. Fenwick. Dark red narrow brick in Flemish garden-wall bond with some blue bricks. Light red brick dressings and arches. Tilehanging to 1st floor and the steep pitched roofs in handmade red tiles. A tall 2-storeys block facing E symmetrical about a brick barrel-vaulted central passage and with a projecting gabled crosswing at each end and hipped-roofed lower projections at ends and rear. 3 hip-roofed single-storey, brick outhouses symmetrically disposed at rear with round arched openings to central passage in middle one on central axis of block. E front has irregular disposition of openings mirrored in each half, and 6 fat square chimneys along the ridge each with clasping corner pilasters and waisted cap typical of Lutyens work in the area. A large rectangular chimney with 2 square shafts linked by a recessed panel projects at outer side of each crosswing. The roofs have bellcast eaves and swept tiled valleys. 6 vertically moulded plank doors in heavy wooden frames. 4 6-lights flush wooden casement windows to 1st floor under the eaves and with small panes. These light the staircase landing. 2-light similar window over door to end houses, which also have the crosswings. Ground floor has, each side of centre, a 4-lights flush casement window, a door, a pair of small leaded larder windows with brick mullion and tile lintel and drip, a door, a pair of larder windows, a 2-light flush casement window, and the door of the end house. Central round-headed gauged arch to passage, has recessed spandrels, red dressings to jambs, and a 2-lights hipped dormer window rising through the eaves above. Each projecting crosswing gable has a 4-light flush casement window central to the 1st floor, and a 4-lights and 1-light casement window on the ground floor round the outer corner.
