GV II

Barn. Early C17. Timber frame weatherboarded with steep pitched roof,
half-hipped at E, now slated. A 5-bay aisled barn facing S with gabled
central S porch and double doors in rear-wall opposite. Heavy square
jowled arcade posts carried on spur sill-walls. Long curved braces to
cambered tie-beams. Aisle-ties with curved braces from jowled
wall-posts. Clasped-purlin roof with collars and one purlin in each
slope. Face-halved bladed scarf joints in arcade plates over posts.
Spaced battens under eaves for ventilation. C20 shed attached on S not
of special interest.
