Farmhouse, now house. Early C17 remodelling of earlier building with later
additions and alterations. Timber framed with red brick infill (some of
herringbone pattern); machine tile roof. T-plan comprising main range of
3-unit baffle-entry plan with shorter range to rear. One storey and attic
to main range, 2 storeys and gable-lit attic to rear range. Framing.
Main range has vertical posts with short straight tension braces and two
surviving horizontal members, latter mainly replaced by later light
rectangular panels, 6 from cill to wall-plate. Close studding to left gable
end mainly concealed by C19 brick cladding, which extends to front. Hewn
jetty to right gable end has renewed bressumer and is partly underbuilt in
early C20 red brick. Back wall has close-set vertical posts to right of
rear range. This has close-set vertical posts to ground floor and 2 square
and rectangular panels with short straight braces above. Hewn jetty to
gable end, which has chamfered bressumer with straight-cut stops and queen-
strut truss. Main range has two C19 casements to left (left segmental-
headed) and one to right of C19 boarded door with gabled hood immediately
to right of centre. Raking eaves dormer directly above casement to left
of door. Ridge stack with 3 attached diagonal shafts and toothed band to base
rebuilt in late C20 brown brick but probably to original form. Integral
end stack to left also rebuilt in late C20 brown brick. Integral end stack
to rear range. Red brick lean-tos to left gable end and to left side of
rear range. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey
(February 1987) but likely to be of interest. Salop County Sites and
