approx 8 metres

Gas Lamp. 1828, put up by the Guildford Gas Light and Coke Company. Stone. Doric
column on square pedestal and plinth with moulded edge. Fluted column approximately
3 metres high with square abacus insert half way up. Incised fillet bands under
echinus below abacus cap. Hole drilled through lower abacus and plinth to
accommodate pipe. An early and unusual example of gas lamp moved from its original
site at the junction of London and Epsom Roads.
