SU 43 NE WONSTON WONSTON

Farmhouse, now cottage. C16 and late C18. Timberframe encased in brick with
some-rubble flint and plaster, thatched roof. 1½ storeys, 3 bays, with lean-
to at right end. Baffle entry in centre bay with mid C19 tiled gabled porch
with detached curly bargeboard, and door to side. 3 wide sashes with glazing
bars arches cambered arches of a soldier course below a course of blue
headers. Above these 3 eyebrow dormers with 2-light casements. Offset and
toothed cornice, and half-hipped roof with wide eaves, gable end stacks and
larger stack to left of centre. Room to left of door has heavy, close spaced
chamfered and stopped joists. Rear has lean-to dairy with 18-light window.
Was centre of basket and lobster pot industry.
