Description

SO 43 NW KINGSTONE CP -

4/31 Wainhouse and granary
about 75 yards south-east
of Arkstone Court

GV II

Wainhouse and granary. Probably late C18. Sandstone rubble base, brick,
timber-frame with brick infill, half-hipped stone slate roof. Four structural
bays aligned east/west. Two levels. North elevation has opening to left into
first floor with thin oak mullions, tallet stairs rise from west to ledged
door under raking top, projecting brick eaves cornice. West elevation has full
width ground floor opening and timber-framed gable end. Interior has interrupted
tie-beam trusses and collars supporting pegged king-posts with angled struts to
principals. Probably contemporary with Arkstone Court (qv) judging from brick-
work. Included as a complete example.
