11/62 No.112 (Jumble Jo's)
- II
Cottage. C16/17 and 1663. Limestone rubble and timber framing; thatched roof
with brick stack. 2-unit plan. One storey plus attics. Door is flanked by
wooden casements with dormers over, mostly 2-light, facing North. Timber
framing to right of door; framing to right gable now cased in stone and brick.
Left gable has half-hip and chimney. Interior has fireplace with cambered
bressumer dated 1663 and the remains of a bread oven. The first-floor
structure incorporates much re-used wall-framing. The roof has a central
truss, framed around a doorway, and clasped purlins with some straight wind-
braces. Probably a partial re-building in stone, in 1663, of an earlier
timber-framed structure.
