Tower mill, under restoration. Circa 1830; a beam in the cap frame bears the
date 1823. Ground floor and 3 upper floors. Tarred red brick tower with
slight convex batter; metal-clad beehive roof with finial fitted over original
cap frame in 1979. Sails and fantail assembly missing. Machinery largely
intact: cast iron windshaft, wooden brakewheel, cast iron wallower, wooden
upright shaft, spurwheel and crownwheel; the machinery was last driven by
engine via an underground drive from the adjacent granary. There were 2 pairs
of over-driven millstones.
