3/105 The Hawk's Nest


GV II

House. C18. Timber-framed and rendered with simple comb pargetting in panels;
old plaintiles; an internal chimney-stack with a plain red brick shaft. 2
storeys, a main range and a rear wing in matching materials. A paired dentil-
type cornice. 3 windows to each storey of the front, all 3-light casements
with transomes, 2 C20 replacements, the remainder original, with pintle hinges
and square leaded panes. A wide single-storey enclosed and rendered porch
with shallow-pitched roof and plain bargeboards contains an entrance door with
6 raised fielded panels in a moulded rectangular surround. Above the porch, a
porthole window with cross glazing-bars. Various C20 extensions to rear and
right. The house was formerly called 'The Crow's Nest'.
