RCHM 250. 2 C17 cottages in one building refaced in C18. 2-storeyed ashlar
with a modern brown tiled roof in which are two ancient gabled attic dormers.
On the west end is a modern red brick shaft on a moulded stone base and
on the east end a modern red brick stack. The ground and 1st floors have
2 3-light C18 sash windows with stone keystoned architraves. The attic window
on the west in the dormer has an original moulded C18 wood frame. In front
of North 39 a one-storeyed red brick shop has been built, extending outwards.
Interior RCHM page 184a. Includes an original stone fireplace and a door
frame. The lst floor South room of No 37 has a C17 wall-painting in a Gothic
painted frame; discovered in 1953.
