Jordan memorial, in the churchyard
2 metres W. of porch of Church
of St. Mary the Virgin

Chest tomb, late C17/early C18. Sandstone. Flat top with moulded
capping. Cartouche at east end with coat of arms, and at west
with inscription (indecipherable). On long sides upturned semi-
circular panels with inscriptions and carved foliage surround with
cherub heads. Fluted lyre ends. Commemorates Anne Jordan d.1691
and her elder sister also Anne Jordan d.1708. Earliest
decipherable inscription in churchyard. "And Also Anne, ye Wife
of John Lib Lamb Gent/Daughr of John Jordan by Eliz his Wife
was/Born March ye 16t 1695 & Buried Oct ye 25t 1708".
"Anne ye Daughr of John Jordan by Eliz/his Wife was Born/April ye
18t 1690 &/Buried ye 25t of May/Following".
One corner of top missing at time of survey (5/6/84)
