the south transept to
the Church of St Mary
GV II*
Chest tomb. Mid C17. Sandstone. Flat top to moulded edge, sunk margin panels,
scribed pattern including spear heads and fronts on east side. Inscription on north
side to Elizabeth Butler, 1668, wife of Matthew Butler, messenger to King Charles I
and Charles II. Inscription is in all capitals and the monument is a good example
of this period.
