Milestone at NGR SO 994 017

Milestone. c1752 or c1814-1818. Limestone with cast-iron
plate. Stone approximately 0.75m high has plate with relief
inscription CIRENR 2 HAMPTON 8 STROUD 12. This section of road
turnpiked 1814-1818 when road was re-routed from its original
course through Cirencester Park; stone may date from this
period or may have been moved from original position on road
through park which was turnpiked in 1752.
