House. Early C19 and earlier. Painted brickwork and gabled
roof of concrete pantiles, continuous with No.38 (qv) and
hipped in centre over rear block. 2 storeys with attics and
flat 3-light C20 casement windowed dormer.
EXTERIOR: first floor has 2 flush double-hung sash windows
with small panes under segmental-arched rubbed brick heads.
Projecting string band between storeys. Ground floor has one
similar window and doorcase as No.38 with reeded architraves,
square blocks at corners, flat hood and rectangular fanlight.
Recessed early C19 door of 6 panels. Plinth with moulded top
and stack on NW end.
INTERIOR: entrance passage has had side wall partly removed
and has semicircular arch with keystone. Part of C17 elm
timber frame exposed in back wall with substantial wall-post,
part of structure with Nos 38 & 39 (qv). Tight dogleg
staircase.
