Gate piers, forecourt walls and steps to Castern Hall. c1740.
Rusticated ashlar piers; coursed rubble walls with ashlar quoins and
coping. Piers of square section in centre with overhanging moulded
cap surmounted by urns with gadrooned bases and ball finials; adjoining
wall encloses a rectangular forecourt and is ramped down from the corners
at the front to frame view of house; flight of steps with flanking wall
to right. C20 cast iron gates. II* on account of association with
Castern Hall. (q.v.).
