House, formerly a farmhouse. Late C17 with C20 alterations. Brick and stone, with
Swithland and Welsh slate roofs. Roof hipped to north, with trip of gables to
south. 2 ridge stacks. Rubblestone plinth with moulded brick course. 2 storeys
with attics. North front: 2 storeys, 5 bays. Off-centre doorway with wooden door-
case with cornice hood, and part-glazed 6-panel door. To right, a 3-light case-
ment. To left, a similar window, followed by a single light casement occupying a
blocked doorway and beyond another 3-light casement. Above, three 3-light case-
ments. All C20 windows with cement rendered flat arches. There is diamond diaper-
work in burnt headers right across the front at first floor level, continuing along
west wall and south front of first floor level, and recurring on the south front
attic gables, the central gable with a heart shape, the other 2 have diamond
shapes. South front: Swithland slate main roof, Welsh slate attic gables.
2 storeys and attic, 4 bays. Off-centre doorway with C20 part-glazed door with
over-light. To left, a 3-light casement with wooden lintel. To right, a single
light casement followed by a 2-light casement. Above to left, a 3-light casement,
and to right, two 2-light casements. In the attic storey, three 2-light casements,
those to left and centre with wooden lintels, that to right with a flat arch. All
other openings have gauged brick flat arches. All C20 casements. Single storey
range outbuildings to east, with attached pump in wooden case. Interior: moulded
main beams with stops on ground floor. Panelling and cornice in bedroom on first
floor reputed to be of c.1700. Several mud and stud partitions remain and several
floors on all storeys are of Leicestershire cement. Slate sundial on west wall
of house at first floor level.
