Farmhouse. Early C19, rebuilt around earlier core; late C19 and C20
alterations. Red brick; hipped, blue machine-tile roof; ridge stacks
to rear. L-shaped plan to main block. 3-storey, 3-window front; circa
1918 casements with concrete lintels replace former sashes; bays defined
by giant brick pilaster strips running up to round-arch heads with a brick
string run through the impost levels; central entrance; small-pane
surround to overlight set above C20 part-glazed door. Lower wing of 2
windows set back to left with C20 lean-to in return angle fronted with
large French casement. Interior: chamfered beams to rear rooms with
cyma recta stops. 2 bricks to rear are dated 1777. The farmhouse with
the outbuildings forms a complete group of the type built for the Duchy
of Lancaster estates in this area, see also Coulters Hill (q.v.) and Hanbury
Park Farm, dated 1836 (not included).
