GV II*

Rectory, now house. Dated NB/1703, but may have earlier origins. Regular coursed
limestone with lias ashlar facade and slate roof. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys
with attic. Garden front: 5-window range of sash windows with glazing bars with
plain stone architraves. Two 2-light stone-mullion cellar windows. String course
between floors. Moulded stone cornice and pair of flat topped roof dormers with
leaded lights. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and brick and stone stacks at
ends. Late C19 brick one-bay extension to right. Elevation to left of garden
front has 6-panel door with panelled reveals, reeded surround and fanlight with
intersecting glazing bars. Semi-circular double flight of steps has C18 iron
balustrade. Cast-iron rainwater head has date. Rear elevation is similar. Leaded
light casements to basement and sash windows to other floors; central staircase
window at half landings. All windows to this elevation under flat stone arches.
Interior: entrance hall has C18 staircase with 2 turned balusters per tread.
Dining room to rear of entrance hall has C18 fielded panelling and bolection
moulded stone fireplace surround. Sitting room immediately right of entrance has
oak C17 panelling reset from Pytchley Old Hall. Drawing room to right of
staircase has early C19 style panelling and cornice.
