Terraced row of 8 cottages. Early to mid C19, altered. Painted
pebble-dash render probably on brick, with sandstone dressings
and slate roof with brick chimneys. Linear double-depth plan,
each cottage single-fronted, with 3 projected double porches
to the front and a single porch at each gable end, and some
back extensions. C17 vernacular style. A low 2-storey 8-window
range, symmetrical; gabled porches to Nos 6/8, 10/11 and
14/16, all with 2-light mullioned windows to the front and
side-wall doorways with chamfered surrounds (Nos 10, 12, 14
and 16 with original board doors, others altered), and roofs
with projected eaves and verges, and apex finials. All have
3-light mullioned casement windows (mostly with altered
glazing), and all openings have stone labels. Four ridge
chimney stacks. Gable walls have gabled porches with finials.
One of the earliest examples of Clifton estate housing in
Lytham.
