Small town house, now hairdressing salon. c.1850-60, altered.
Red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and slate
roof. Double-depth single-fronted plan on corner site, with
facade to Bath Street and entrance in north return side to
South Clifton Street. Two storeys; the one-bay facade to Bath
Street has a plain frieze and moulded cornice carried round a
full-height stone canted bay with 4-pane sashed windows on
both floors. The gabled side wall has a central round-headed
doorway with moulded architrave and fanlight with radiating
glazing bars, protected by a shallow wooden trellis porch with
geometrical open work forming a round-headed archway; a 4-pane
sashed window above the doorway; and a 4-flue chimney stack on
the apex above this. The rear has a lower 2-storey back
extension. Forms a group with Nos 2-10 Bath Street opposite
(q.v.), and Nos 1 & 3 Bath Street to the left. Included for
group value.
