Pair of cottages. No.6 early C17, No.7 late C17. Timber-framed
and plastered, peg-tiled roof. Rectangular plans; No.6 with
flat roofed C20 rear addition and lean-to in C20 brick; No.7
with deep C20 rear lean-to.
EXTERIOR No.6: one storey and attic, N gabled end has large
external early C17 stack with re-built pair of diagonally set
shafts. Front, E elevation, 2 window range with C20 boarded
central front door, simple lean-to porch on posts with
peg-tiled roof, windows have C18/19 frames, 2-light casements
with glazing bars renewed, each light 2x3 panes. Dormers
above, peg tiled with windows similar to below. Rear, C20
additions have 3 casement windows and simple C20 door with
upper glazed panel, to S C18/19 stack emerges through catslide
roof from rear of old house. N gable end, C20 casement attic
window with glazing bars 2x2 panes to W of stack.
No.7: smaller than No.6, roof lower, one storey and attic,
C18/19 stack internal at S end. Front elevation, 2 window
range with central boarded front door, door frame with C19
bead moulding, lean-to porch on posts, peg-tiled roof. Windows
have C19 frames with C20 2-light casements with glazing bars,
each light 2x3 panes. Dormers above, peg-tiled with similar
windows to ground floor. Rear, W elevation, C20 addition
rendered and colourwashed with slate roof, three C20 casement
windows with glazing bars, one 4x4 panes, two 4x3 panes. S end
elevation, C20 simple door with rectangular fanlight, upper
glazing with glazing bars, 2x3 panes, one C20 ground floor
3-light casement window, one C20 attic casement window with
glazing bars, 2x2 panes.
INTERIOR: No.6: early C17 framing of 2 bays, unjowled posts,
floor joists - deep sectioned, diminished haunched tenons with
pendant soffits, bridging joist integrated into stack.
Ground-floor fireplace reduced in width, some English bond in
brickwork. House and stack are of one build.
No.7: late C17 framing, primary bracing and waney edge timber.
